USNS Montford Point (MLP-1) has left NASSCO’s San Diego, Calif. shipyard to begin contract trials under the auspices of the Navy’s Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV), Military Sealift Command officials told USNI News on Thursday.
The first Mobile Landing Platform is expected to arrive Friday at Naval Station Everett, Wash. to conduct contract acceptance trails that will extend into September. Read More

Naval Sea Systems Command has issued three contracts to shipyards for work toward the Navy’s next-generation fleet oiler (T-AO(X)).
General Dynamics NASSCO, Huntington Ingalls Industries and VT Halter Marine, “were each awarded firm-fixed price contracts at or below the not-to-exceed amount of $1.7 million as contained in the solicitation for Trade-Off Industry Studies,” according to a Wednesday release from NAVSEA. Read More

Austal USA delivered its second Joint High Speed Vessel on Thursday — USNS Choctaw County (JHSV-2) — to Military Sealift Command and has launched the third JHSV from its Mobile, Ala. shipyard.
Choctaw County follows closely behind the lead ship, USNS Spearhead (JHSV-1), which delivered in December. Read More
