In the Philippine Sea

Amphibious warship USS America (LHA-6) is operating in the Philippine Sea and conducted a tiger cruise for families on Wednesday after exercising near Okinawa.

America is set to leave Japan and shift homeports to San Diego later this year, USNI News learned. USS Tripoli (LHA-7) will replace America as the forward-deployed big deck amphibious warship.

In the Sea of Japan

Destroyer Squadron 1

Destroyer Squadron 1 is based in San Diego, Calif., and is embarked on Carl Vinson.

In the Southern Ocean

Completing its missions of assisting the resupply of McMurdo Station, USCGC Polar Star (WAGB-10) and its crew departed the Antarctic region on Tuesday after 65 days operating south of the Antarctic Circle in support of Operation Deep Freeze 2025.

In the Eastern Mediterranean

As of Monday, the Navy had two independently deployed guided-missile surface warships in the Mediterranean.

In the Red Sea

U.S. ships continue to patrol the Red Sea as part of Operation Prosperity Guardian, the U.S.-led multinational effort to protect merchant vessels moving through the region. Yemen’s Houthi rebels have signaled they now will limit their attacks in the Red Sea corridor to only Israeli-affiliated ships.

Destroyer Squadron 28

Destroyer Squadron 28 is based in Naval Station Norfolk, Va., and embarked on Harry S. Truman.

Guided-missile submarine USS Georgia (SSGN-729) is operating in the Middle East. The Ohio-class submarine carries 154 Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles as well as special operations forces.

In the Persian Gulf

U.S. Coast Guard Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutters are forward-deployed to the region under Patrol Forces Southwest Asia (PATFORSWA).

PATFORSWA deploys Coast Guard personnel and ships with U.S. and regional naval forces throughout the Middle East. Initially deployed in 2003 to support Operation Iraqi Freedom, PATFORSWA is now a permanent presence based out of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

In the Eastern Pacific

Aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) departed San Diego, Calif., on Wednesday, according to ship spotters. Aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN-68) is in port ahead of a planned deployment.

In the Western Atlantic

Amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7) returned to Norfolk, Va., last Monday, according to ship spotters.
