The Navy relieved the commanding officer of the Naval Information Warfare Training Group San Diego on Thursday, the service announced.
Commodore of Naval Information Warfare Training Group Capt. Meredith Schley relieved Cmdr. Cayanne McFarlane as the commanding officer of NITWG San Diego, a subordinate command of Naval Information Warfare Training Group.
The Navy cited a loss of confidence in McFarlane’s ability to command. A Navy official told USNI News the relief was due to personal misconduct.
Cmdr. Dominic DiMaggio, executive officer of Fleet Weather Center, San Diego, will temporarily take over as the NITWG San Diego commanding officer. McFarlane has been temporarily assigned to Naval Information Forces.
McFarlane took over as the NITWG San Diego commanding officer in April 2023. Previously, she served as the assistant chief of staff for non-kinetic effects, information operations, electronic warfare (N9/N39) and Special Access Program, as well as the special technical operations program manager for Carrier Strike Group 11 from May 2021 until March 2023.
Before that, she served at the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station in Sicily, Italy from December 2019 to April 2021.
She was commissioned in 2006 after graduating from the Naval Academy.
