The Navy relieved the commander of the sea service’s unit focused on providing training and education to enlisted leaders and officers.

Commander of Navy Ethics and Leadership Center Capt. Shawn Bailey relieved Capt. Lester Brown, commanding officer of Navy Leadership and Ethics Command San Diego, on Wednesday due to a loss in his confidence to lead the unit.

Military.com reported that Brown was relieved for personal conduct.

Brown took over the San Diego command in August 2022, according to his official Navy biography. He previously served at the Navy Warfare Development Center before going to the Leadership and Ethics Command San Diego.

Brown’s most recent ship assignment was as the commanding officer of USS McFaul (DDG-74).

Capt. Richard Zeber, currently stationed at Naval Leadership and Ethics Center Newport, has temporarily taken command of NLEC San Diego.
