New Report Suggests Closer Integration With Japan, Including Addition to ‘5 Eyes’ Intel Sharing

Japan should be added to the “Five Eyes” intelligence-sharing network between the United States and its closest allies, argues a new report, along with other recommendations to strengthen the relationship between the U.S. and one of its closest treaty allies. Speaking Wednesday at the Center for International and Strategic Studies, Ambassador Richard Armitage, one of the report’s authors, said, “we’re pretty far along” in the intelligence-sharing between Washington and Tokyo now.
