The Navy released new budget guidance in the event of a Fiscal Year 2013-long Continuing Resolution and a March sequester.
The cuts would come at the expense of deployments and ultimately reductions in the number of ships. The navy has already said it would be unable to conduct depot level maintenance for ships and aircraft for the third and fourth quarters of FY 2013.
The service has also delayed the refueling of the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) and the deployment of USS Harry S Truman (CVN-75) as a result of the bleaker budget picture.
