Under Secretary of the Navy Bob Work plans to be the new chief executive of the Center for New American Security (CNAS) beginning on April 22, Foreign Policy’s The Cable blog reported Tuesday.

“Bob Work is renowned both as a leader and a top thinker on national security affairs, and I am delighted at the opportunity to work with him,” said CNAS President Richard Fontaine in a release. “He joins CNAS at a time when its mission — to develop strong, pragmatic and principled national security and defense policies — is of paramount importance.”

Work has served as the Under Secretary since 2009 and has been a vocal advocate for unmanned systems and the Litoral Combat Ship (LCS). Previous to his appointment to the Department of the Navy, Work was a 27-year Marine and also worked at the Center for Strategic Budget Analysis.
